I was planning to buy a laptop but I don't know if that laptop is wifi ready.

how can I know if the Laptop is wifi ready by just browsing under their specs in their website.

was having the spec: WLAN 802.11b mean they can receive wifi?

WLAN 802.11b would indicate that it has an older WiFi installed, newer versions would be 'g' or 'n'. It should be fine for surfing the 'net.

99.99% of new notebooks and netbooks have a built-in Wi-Fi card.

On a used PC, if you have a home Wi-Fi router and it doesn't initially connect, check the router to be sure "802.11 b" is enabled (some "g" and "n" routers don't always have the "b" speed enabled in the default settings).

If you don't want to mess with this (or the "b" ends up being too slow) you can always buy a USB Wi-Fi adapter for about $25-$30.

    Hope this helps. :)
