    Greetings Geeks.

It seems I am having trouble locating the correct BIOS version to download. Asus is making it overly difficult. I tried the ASUS Autoupdate which is proving to be an exercise in futility. I first tried to "upgrade from internet" and I had trouble connecting to the servers, they all seemed busy. When I did connect, it simply stated a "newer version is available and must be upgraded. It downloads, get to the end, and just seems to hang. The whole process is cryptic - what is downloading, the BIOS file? A newer version of Auto Update? I am pretty sure I have the newest version. No problem, I instruct the program to download the BIOS only, same frickin' thing. Arghhhhh. . . . .

So I go about searching the untamed wild of driver downloads. As expected, when I go to a site for drivers, I get bombarded with alternate downloads, tricky and misleading web page layouts, etc. I feel like a lamb in a den of lions.

I manage to download and try a few files (made even more frustrating by the crappy minimal display quality of my hobbled computer). No luck there either, it seems whenever I get a file I think is correct, Asus Auto Updater tells me the ROM versions do not match.

My head is going to explode. So, I have a simple question: Where can I safely and easily download a BIOS update file for an Asus M2MV-MX SE motherboard?

    Thanks for any help.

For the record, updating an ASUS motherboard is proving to be way to difficult. So much so, they just might have lost a future customer.

can you double check(or triple if that's the case) the model # I'm not seeing it anywhere. I've found M2NV

Was this board purchased as a component for your system, or was the computer bought whole from a store?

I believe the board is an M2V-MX SE mATX. Use this page to select your mobo and OS and most likely find that the 0601 BIOS is the latest and grab that. Do not use the auto-updater as that really sucks even after 5 years that I tried it.

Do use the updater that is on your mobo's CD, worked for me though I have only had to update the BIOS once, in all my builds, when I went from a single cored Venice 3000+ to an X2 3800+.

Do read the changelogs to see if your CPU is affected, otherwise don't bother as it's more headache than anything. This is one of those times when 'If it ain't broke...'.;)

thesmokingun - yes, I am that stupid. Thanks for taking the time to question my stupidity! You would think I would get something as important as the model number correct in my post! I did search for the correct version though, I just entered it wrong here.

    auggiedoggie - thanks, going there now . . . . I will come back if I have troubles . . . .
