    Short version:

    1. How can I upgrade my Windows XP Pro SP2 CD to include SP3 without losing the Recovery Console? (I've tried autostreamer, nLite, ...)

    2. Any problem adding a Windows XP Recovery Console to the optional boot menu from original WinXP/SP2 CD, even though I'm running SP3 now?

Longer version: My first attempt to update XP/SP2 was made using auto-streamer (freebie here at MG). the program appeared to work fine, but later I found it failed to incorporate certain drivers I would need (iaStor.sys,...). Second time I used nLite and added the iaStor.sys driver. That worked a bit better, but it was still missing drivers. For my last attempt, I updated all my drivers using DriverMax and Driver Genius Pro, then used those and other programs (Double Drivers, Driver Magic Lite, Driver Grabber,...) to grab them all off my system into one folder (dups eliminated). I once again used my original XP/SP2 CD as base, added SP3 from this site, added RyanVM's Windows XP Post-SP3 Update Pack also from this site, added my driver folder, and I also dropped the extra languages, WMP, and some similar extras (nothing Recovery related) since nLite makes that so convenient. On my test run I received no driver complaints, instead I was not even given the R option to go into recovery, and instead the new WinXP/SP3 CD gave me the option to partition some unallocated space, plus install/exit... So What's the deal? Does adding SP3 always remove the recovery console, and if not, then what add-ons should I avoid? Is there a trick to see if nLite included it before burning the image to a CD?

One more note: I enabled the 'prompt for repair' option, so now I get the option again, but I also get a message saying that no hard disk was found... Same problem as before.
