help Me....about update

Update were unable to be successfully installed..
the following update were not installed.
cumulative security update for interent explorer for win xp (kb896688)

it wont let me update been tried to figure it out how to get it fixed but wont let me ...am using firefox for long times..

 

i did followed ur link and download it but still not working

kb896688 setup error
setup could not verify integrity of file update.inf.
make sure the cryptographic services is running on this computer...

i disabled mcafee firewall..same thing...

 

Start, run and type in services.msc then OK.

Scroll down to Cryptograhic Services and double-click it.

Start the service and also set it to Automatic.

Mine is on manual and I've never had a problem with updates.

i check it and it is on automatic ..but still wont let me update..

BTW, have you tried to set Automatic Updates to on, and then connect to the Internet and see if it updates?

 

hi,,ok i tried to download serivce pack 1 but i have sp 2 on my computer should i go to add and remove program and delete sp2 then download sp 1????

 

No, Service Packs are cumulative. You only need the latest one, in this case SP2.

 

ok, so what am i do about it now?...it wont let me update anything from win xp..mine is win xp pro..cant get to download on sp1.
