Help me choose a new laptop

Right now I'm fighting between the HP 5000 series and the Saony Vaio FJ series.

I'd plan on using it mostly for regualr word processing, internet browsing, pictures, music, and burning discs. But there will certainly be times I'd be running quark, photoshop and dreamweaver applications simultaneously.

I have absoulutely no interest in using it for gaming, watching DVDs etc and don't plan on carrying it around too often.

Price range $1500

Anyone have any feedback or user experiences on either? Or want to confuse me more and suggest another machine?

 

A Dell XPS system with just the basic options DELL has very good PC's awesome customer service, and a very good price point.
