I have attached an HJT log and an ActiveScan log from my sytem.

    Lev,
Thank you for your reply. I went through the steps you outlined. It appears that the Spybot - Search and Destroy app. may have cleared up my problem. The pop-ups have gone away - at least at this point in time.

I have attached the logs/reports from spybot, malwarebytes, and the MGTools.zip file.

If you see anything else I should do, I am open to any help I can get. I have never had this type of issue before - McAfee is running at all times on this - but apparently McAfee didn't catch this.

Thank you very much for your time and effort through this forum.

    Craig.

You have a little more to do.

Uninstall the below old versions of software:
Java 2 Runtime Environment, SE v1.4.2_03
    Java(TM) SE Runtime Environment 6 Update 1

Run C:\MGtools\analyse.exe by double clicking on it. This is really HijackThis (select Do a system scan only) and select the following lines but DO NOT CLICK FIX until you exit all browser sessions including the one you are reading in right now:

    O2 - BHO: (no name) - {7E853D72-626A-48EC-A868-BA8D5E23E045} - (no file)
    O2 - BHO: (no name) - {acce4848-de8e-4ea6-9a09-a33fb32d2d4d} - C:\WINDOWS\system32\CORCAB.dll (file missing)
    O3 - Toolbar: (no name) - {0BF43445-2F28-4351-9252-17FE6E806AA0} - (no file)
    O6 - HKCU\Software\Policies\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Control Panel present
    O9 - Extra button: PartyPoker.com - {B7FE5D70-9AA2-40F1-9C6B-12A255F085E1} - C:\Program Files\PartyPoker\PartyPoker.exe (file missing)
    O9 - Extra 'Tools' menuitem: PartyPoker.com - {B7FE5D70-9AA2-40F1-9C6B-12A255F085E1} - C:\Program Files\PartyPoker\PartyPoker.exe (file missing)
    O9 - Extra button: WeatherBug - {AF6CABAB-61F9-4f12-A198-B7D41EF1CB52} - C:\Program Files\AWS\WeatherBug\Weather.exe (file missing) (HKCU)
    O20 - Winlogon Notify: CORCAB - CORCAB.dll (file missing)
    O21 - SSODL: DrvSetup - {c6e935a5-1f6c-45ee-a45e-3437a5ed7da6} - C:\WINDOWS\Installer\{c6e935a5-1f6c-45ee-a45e-3437a5ed7da6}\DrvSetup.dll (file missing)

    After clicking Fix, exit HJT.

Now download The Avenger by Swandog46, and save it to your Desktop.
    • Extract avenger.exe from the Zip file and save it to your desktop
    • Run avenger.exe by double-clicking on it.
    • Do not change any check box options!!
    • Copy everything in the Quote box below, and paste it into the Input script here: part of the window:
    • Now click the Execute button.
    • Click Yes to the prompt to confirm you want to execute.
    • Click Yes to the Reboot now? question that will appear when Avenger finishes running.
    • Your PC should reboot, if not, reboot it yourself.
    • A log file from Avenger will be produced at C:\avenger.txt and it will popup for you to view when you login after reboot.

    Now run Ccleaner!

Now run the C:\MGtools\GetLogs.bat file by double clicking on it. Then attach the new C:\MGlogs.zip file that will be created by running this and also attach the log from Avenger.

Make sure you tell me how things are working now!

    chaslang...

Thank you so much. I have followed your directions, fixing the items you listed and attached new MGlogs.txt and report from avenger. My system seems to be running very well, thank you! I can't thank MajorGeeks enough for your assistance.

My concern is how I got infected in the first place and how to avoid this in the future. There are times McAfee warns me about things wanting to update my system. Usually, if I haven't initiated it, I tell it to 'block' changes. Obviously, something I 'allowed' to change my system must have bit me. I get McAfee free through my employer. Do I need to have something in addition to it running on my system?

    Craig.

    You're welcome.

Covered in my final instructions; however quite often these kind of infections occur due to allowing some site or some program to installed codecs onto your PC so that you can view video's which are often of questionable content.

Also covered in my final instructions.

Your logs are clean. If you are not having any other malware problems, it is time to do our final steps:
    1. If we had you use ComboFix, uninstall ComboFix (This uninstall will only work as written if you installed ComboFix on your Desktop & renamed it like we requested.)
      • Click START then RUN and enter the below into the run box and then click OK. Note the quotes are required
      • "%userprofile%\Desktop\cf" /u
        • Notes: The space between the cf" and the /u, it must be there.
        • This will uninstall ComboFix and also reset hidden files and folders settings back to Windows defaults.
    2. If we used SmitFraudFix, you can delete all files and folders related to it now including the c:\rapport.txt log.
    3. If we had you run Avenger, you can delete all files related to Avenger now.
    4. If we had you download any registry patches like fixme.reg or fixWLK.reg (or any others), you can delete these files now.
    5. If running Vista, it is time to make sure you have reenabled UAC by double clicking on the C:\MGtools\enableUAC.reg file and allowing it to be added to the registry.
    6. You can delete the C:\MGtools folder and the C:\MGtools.exe file. You can also delete the C:\MGlogs.zip
    7. If you are running Windows XP or Windows ME, do the below:
      • Refer to the cleaning steps in the READ ME for your Window version and see the steps to Disable System Restore which will flush your Restore Points.
      • Then reboot and Enable System Restore to create a new clean Restore Point.
    8. After doing the above, you should work thru the below link:
