First you need to go to your bios and see if your motheboard supports it. To do that press delete of f2 right before the windows loads. Most laptops dont have overlocking option available in them, especialy ones that are made by companies like compaq and dell, they simply block that in bios

Overclocking a laptop isn't too good an idea. They have marginal cooling in them to begin with. Get some more memory in that puppy. Especially if your running XP.

Renju......Please note in my sig, my Compaq Armada laptop. Granted it's a Pentium, but it's only 450MHZ. It was a DOG when I bought it(used). It had 192 Ram in it. When I upped the RAM to 320, it made a WORLD of difference. It actually runs quite fast now. I tried XP on it, but that ran slow. With 98SE it's fine though.
I'd definately add more memory to it if I were you.

I can say to that.... my Armada 1750 had 64MB ram when i got it.... but now that i have 320MB i cant tell the dif from my 1GB ram desktop when it comes to surfing the web .... i dident even notace a dif. when i upgraded from a P2 300Mhz to a P3 650 ( running at 500 ) w/o running a CPU benchmark....it seems widows couldent care less what CPU you have ... but xp does have a hunger for ram.....

I found that using win 2000 is almost always good. Its not hungry on RAM, but is a lot more stable than 98, and offers plug and play (very handy when you are using USB Flash drives). I had a computer running on 192MB RAM, and 400Mhz AMD with XP pro....boy was it slow. I installed 2000 and it felt like i was on my 1.6Ghz Thinkpad.....for the most part. If you have 2000, try it, it can make life a lot easier.
