help me please, what is crytographic mean?

    Hello ev1. I try to download internet explorer 8, but it get almost finished then a popup comes in and says something about crytographic. Does anyone know what that is talking about>:cry

    Hi

    Crypotographic is where data is jumbled up so that on-one can read it, especially usefull for internet banking and shopping etc

    What is the full message your getting?

    What Windows version you using?

    or you need to click Start > Control Panel > Administrative Tools > Services and check that the Cryptographic service is started and set to Automatic

    Thank you Halo. Tried that at control panel. Didn't work. The whole message reads: Setup could not verify the integrity of the files needed for installation. Make sure the cryptograhic service is running on the computer. It shows its running. Any other ideas is appreciated. will try the microsoft support u gave next, probably after this storm passes over. I have Windows XP

    The Cryptographic service depends on Remote Procedure Call running. Then the Remote Procedure Call depends on other services.

    You might want to go here http://www.blackviper.com/WinXP/servicecfg.htm
    and check that your services match his list.
