    Jonesy. You have downloaded the latest Windows live installer a 1.09MB file.

    You have to run the installer. Once installed it will give you an option to select the apps it offers.

    Messenger is one of them. You will have to put a check mark and download Window Live messenger. A much larger download :)

    I'm not sure what files and folders you have deleted. So remove/change/uninstall Windows live from CP add/remove.

    Down load the installer and run it. Then d-load messenger.
    What happened last time. Did the installer not run? Did you forget to d-load the messenger app. :)

    Cheers..

    have you tried this solution click start then run then copy and paste or type in the following

    msiexec /x {0AAA9C97-74D4-47CE-B089-0B147EF3553C}

    press enter and see if this helps.

    [s have you also tried to uninstall the windows live essentials package from the add and remove programs list.

    From Control panel add/remove uninstall 1) WL Essentials 2) WL sign in and3) WL upload tool. Not sure you will find the latter two but if yes - remove.
    Get it from here: http://download.live.com/messenger
    Cheers..

    Hi there if it's saying that a newer version is already on your computer, have you tryied tracing the path to find out where it may be, i:e C:\ ProgramFiles or check in your registry see if it's there first ! :)

    Hi

    What Windows version you using?

    Try this free messenger removal app from Jonathan Kay HERE you may need if you are running Vista to right click it and Run as Administrator the application.

    Or re-install the latest version of Messenger and then use Add/Remove to uninstall it, or failing that re-install it again and then use Revo Uninstaller.

    *if you haev Spybot S&D installed, disable it as it can stop registry entries from being deleted or added.

    Ok thats good info to know but did you try the other options I mentioned in Jonathan Kays removal tool for Messenger and possibly re-installing the lastest version of Messenger and then re-uninstalling?

    Problem with msiexec uninstall code is the GUID needs to be the exact one for that messenger version you have. and this should be the code for the GUID of the messenger you have and enter in same way as before as in Start > Run and type or paste the code

    msiexec /x {A85FD55B-891B-4314-97A5-EA96C0BD80B5}

    but Zap Messenger I know should work with this version WLMess

    I am having problems with MSN Messenger, how can i remove Windows Live Essentials on the Add / Remove programs, it says it is part of Messenger.

    I click on Windows Live Essentials on the add / remove program site, then i click on uninstall, i then get a pop up window that states "windows needs your permission to continue", i click on the continue button, and nothing happens, it just goes blank and the Windows Live Essential is still on the Add / Remove programs list.

    Does anybody know what else i can do to remove this. Thanks
