I hope I am posting this in the correct place. This started 3 hours ago. I ran my FREE AVG spyware and it detected 4 trojans, so I went to remove them and probaly some files too. At this point I am not sure what I did, all I know is after words my AVG crashed and I could not reinstall it. I tried 3 times. I have since found out that on my FIREFOX browser I cannot download ANYTHING. The download feature does not work at all. It works fine on IE, so I thought it might be Firefox...of course I cannot re-install it, because the download feature does not work.
When I turn on my computer now, as soon as I get to the desk top I get this:
    C:windows/system 32/ssqeg.exe
Windows cannot access the specified path or file
You may not have the appropriate permission to access the item.
    I also get:
Could not load run C/windows/system 32/specific
in the registry. make sure the file exists on your computer or remove the refrence to it from, the registry.

What did I do? How can I fix it? I am dumbfounded.:confused:confused

Neither of those are legitimate system files, and were probably removed by AVG during your virus scan. Beacuse all the malware hasn't been properly removed, traces of it are still trying to execute those files. This post would probably be better off in the Malware Forum. Follow the steps at link that follows, then post your results in the Malware Removal Forum. http://forums.majorgeeks.com/showthread.php?t=35407
    Good luck!

I need to ask u a question. I just spent almost 2 hours running Tech micro scan---anything I had they got rid of-- or so they say. I also ran spybot and Adaware--and this all started with AVG--so I am not sure how I could have any Malware left that would be causing these problems. Also the section u sent me to--I assume these removal guides are downloads and I am unable to download anything because of whats going on. I am very perplexed. thank u for the quick response.

You can try safemode to see if you can download the programs you need. Reboot and tap 'F8' repeatedly until you get to the menu. Hope that helps.

If running Windows XP, try a system restore to a date before all this started, like yesterday if possible. If that allows you to download, visit the link I posted, download what's needed and follow the steps. If the experts in the malware section say you're clean, then re-post here. If the system restore doesn't work, let us know, and we'll go from there ;)
    Good luck!

BTW- do you have your Windows installation CD?

Ok, I fixed the download problem. I was able to reinstall AVG spyware and I ran a scan. I have ONE
    dropper.agent.dgo
which cannot be removed or quarantined. I wish I knew why. I systwm restore will not help because while trying to find info on google about this issue 6 hours ago, someone said to stop system restore then run the programs again and try to quarantine because system restore had something to do with having the trojan staying on the sytem. I have since turned it back on, but of course I have only ONED restore point,.so that doesn't help
Yes I have my windows discs, but I would lose erverything I need, with no way to reinstall half of it, since a ITT friend put most of it on, so thats not really an option. I just need to get this dropper.agent. dgo off. I googled it, I guess its not easy to do. I would hate to have to erase my entire system for ONE malware. There has to be someway to remove it.

OK... good. You can download. So, I'll say it again, visit this link and follow the steps carefully. If the malware remains, post in the Malware Removal forum and they'll help you.

Oh yeah... before I forget.... set a restore point RIGHT NOW! That way you'll have somewhere to restore to if needed. If things are working more or less normally except for the virus, set the restore point. In infected restore point is better than no restore point.

Ok, I hate to sound so retarded...........and trust me after 6 hours i do feel like it. But when I went to the link, it doesn't list dropper.agent.dgo on the list of maleware. So I am not sure what program I should use, its quite a list and even though I have general knwoledge about computers, I am dumbfounded by the amount of info on that link, and which one I should use. I really hate to keep bothering you, your probaly getting as frustrated with me....as I am with this whole thing. I do apologize!

If your malware isn't listed in the Special Removal section, then continue to read through the article. Print it out if possible. I know there's a lot of info, and the steps are very exact, and have to be performed "just so" or else you won't get the virus completely removed. As you go thru the article, you'll see links to programs to download, and other links to other steps to take. Follow all the links, download what is suggested, and run each step as listed. Again, I know it's alot, but if the virus you have will not be removed using regular procedures, you'll have to use these detailed instructions. Yes, it's a drag, but it's necessary. The folks in the Malware Removal forum have taken alot of time to put this guide together, and it has actually become quicker and easier over the past few months. If you had tried to follow this guide a year ago, you might have ended up just formatting your hard drive. They've made it as painless as possible even tho' it doesn't look like it. If you follow the steps, and post your scan logs as suggested, they'll be happy to help. You can also go to the malware forums and search it to see if anyone else has your same particular infection. If so, you may be able to follow their removal procedure. Be patient, and all will be well. I promise ;) No need to apologize, we're all only human....
