What seems to be the problem? More information would be very useful.Type of system, system specs, symptoms.

Ya, no one learns by just blastting everything clean but yes, it is possible to wipe everything and go to default settings quite easily.

Is this the same computer you were having problems with in your prior post. If it is it may effect the outcome of your reformat.

    You made these comments:
As I understand you were given a computer that doesn't have a legitimate copy of windows on it. You have no disks for programs or even drivers. How are you going to restart your computer to the factory defaults without any disks nor a CD of windows with a serial number?

If you can afford it, you could simply purchase an OEM disk. You could then do your reformat, reinstallation, and have the numbers required for activation.;)

If you do have a illegal copy of windows you are pretty much going to have a very, if not an impossible time to fix the problems you have encountered. I've worked on computers with illegal copies and they work well for a while until an update is needed or you install something that requires windows to interact with it, once that happens the validation loop starts and everything starts to malfunction little by little. I'm no expert on this so hang on and maybe some else on the MG forum has the answer to assist you further.
