Help me set up my network plez

I want to be able to get my laptop to print to my desktop's 612C. Everything is on XP.

 

install SP2 , enable printer sharing and your set....i think...pic makes no sense

 

Tried it, it dosn't work.

 

Share the printer on the computer that it's connected to (rt. click on printer, select Sharing, select Share This Printer, give it a name, click OK). Next, create a printer def on your laptop for the printer (Add Printer, select Network Printer, select Connect To This Printer, specify the path to the printer (\\myComputer\myPrinterNameHere ), and you're done. This all assumes that you can ping/query the PC with the printer hooked up to it. This is more or less how I have one printer shared here at home, and it works perfectly. Make sure your networking works correctly first (laptop can connect to/ping local machines, internet, etc, and desktop can connect to/ping local machines, internet, etc).
