Help Me To Avoid Call Center!

Hey all,
So I've have a Galaxy S GT-I9000 and I haven't had any problems with it until now. I would really like to AVOID those stupid call centers because they drive me nuts, so I'm hoping to get advice here.

Recently whenever I try to send a text message to anyone it says that its sending for a while and then tells me it failed. I haven't changed any of the settings recently but I did download a few apps(which I've gotten rid of) before the problem has started. It keeps doing this no matter how strong the signal is where I am.

I'm with Vodafone AU.

I'm sorry if the above message didn't make any sence I'm pretty sick at the moment, hence why I can't take my phone anywhere and don't wanna deal with the call center people.

These are probably silly questions but I'll ask them anyway.

Can you make calls? If you can't, chances are it's a service provider issue. I know you said you have bars but there was a time when my provider cut me off (I hadn't paid them yet LOL) and I still had bars because they allow me to receive incoming calls and text but I couldn't make outgoing.

If service isn't the issue, have you tried letting the phone fully die and/or just removing the battery, for an hour or so? There have been times when my phone has been acting strangely and a good popping out of the battery has fixed things.

Yeah I was able to make calls and I knew that I'd paid the bill.
I did also give the battery a break and I did also flatten it and charge it.

Oddly enough today it started working again so I'm still now sure what went wrong lol.
