Help Me To Help My Celeron

I am working my way up to major geek, but right now I am a peaon. I welcome assistance from you all now in a problem I am having.
My Celeron has 128 K RAM, 1400 MHz, 1.39 GHz and a 8.6 hard drive. It is as slow as molassas. I am tryiing hard to speed it us so I don't grow old sitting and waiting for it to load. It sometimes takes 10 mins from startup until I am in the internet.

First question....if I want to upgrade to 512 RAM, does anyone have an idea what this might cost me and where I can ber the chips? See, I live in rural Utah and all we have is a Walmart....1 1/2 hours away.

Second question...after having defragged, cleaned up all trash, and an attempt to optimize does anyone have any suggestions on how to speed up what I have left to work with?

Folks, I am trying to save my own life here. I don't want anyone tto find my body sitting in the chair in front of this turtle in years to come.

 

Of course RAM will always help, but have you ever considered spyware. Spyware apps running in the background and at startup will slow things down quite heavily.

I would download and run both Spybot S&D and Adaware SE. Both are free. You might be suprised to find some junk that is causing the slow response.

After runing adware and spybot if you still want to purchase more ram I would buy from www.newegg.com, I buy lots of stuff from them and they are great.
