Help Me!

Guys,
I downloaded a program under apperance on majorgeeks, and now my internet is screwed up. Someone said it might be malware? I don't know. The problem is this-when I scroll now on my internet, it appears to have a wave in it-it does not scroll smoothly. I have restarted, taken the program i downloaded off of my computer, and restored the settings on the ie. What else can i do? any help would be appreciated. thanks.

Hi and welcome. MajorGeeks tests all programs before posting. Although there may be occasional updates that change the programs, it is still rare. Often times people also download programs not being aware of the problems it can cause less experienced users.

Here is what I need from you. What is the program? An outside guess is that somehow your video display was changed. Poor drivers or low screen resolutions can cause this slow, wavy scrolling on Internet Explorer that sounds like what your describing.

Heres some guesses:

Right click on your desktop, hit properties. Be sure your using the default Windows theme... for now. Then, make sure you are at 16 or 32 bit color depth. Theres a possibility your video drivers got screwed up, so updating these may help too, but unlikely. Finally, check your startup, start, run, type in msconfig and make sure this program is still not trying to run.

Again, this is an outside guess without any information to go on, so let me know what program you used.

it also happens when your resources are high and you system is bogged down. but like MA said, we need the name of the program.
