I've had to set up another account so I can post from my iPad. I can't remember the password to my usual account. I was using a video editor to create a clip. I clicked save and the program crashed on me. I managed to shut it down but discovered it had left a part of the clip I'd tried to create on my desktop. I tried to delete the clip but thus message appeared saying "detecting 0 bytes". I clicked cancel and again tried to delete the clip but it wouldn't budge. I refreshed the desktop but it was still there. So I thought I'd just restart. But when I did, even though the desktop loaded fully, the computer was almost completely frozen. The clip Had gone into the recycle bin during the restart but right clicking on the bin to empty it had no effect. Then I opened the recycle bin to see if I could right click on the clip and delete it that way but right clicking on the clip had no effect. And none of the programs that load up in my taskbar whenever I turn the computer on were appearing. And the CPU was making a lot of noise. I found I couldn't click on anything anymore so then I panicked and forced shutdown by pressing and holding the power button. When I restarted, again the desktop fully loaded but the computer was just frozen. So then I forced shutdown again. Except this time when I restarted, I left the computer alone for a few minutes before entering my password because I've noticed before that the desktop and all the taskbar programs load very quickly if I don't enter my password immediately. Fortunately, the computer did boot up perfectly normally and I was even able to play a video and web browse. But when I tried to right click on the recycle bin to delete that damn file once and for all, everything froze up again. I forced shutdown again a few minutes ago and now I'm panicking.

OK. I managed to get the computer back on. Everything loaded OK. I'm staying away from the recycle bin for the moment though because I know it'll freeze everything up again. What should I do? I read somewhere if I show hidden files and delete the recycle bin it'll refresh and I should restart and everything should be fine. Is that true?

I've managed to change my password to the one I used to set up that emergency account so I probably won't need that account again.

EDIT: I finally managed to delete that file, plus another one I made while trying to recreate the circumstances that led to the first crash. Should I continue worrying or can I relax now?
