My PC just died on me all of a sudden and it will not boot up. This is what happened:

    1. I saw that my screen saver was not working (about 3 hours after my last access), so, I tried waking up my PC with my keyboard, but it did nothing.
    2. I restarted from the PC itself, and it went through the start up, but got a message indicating that Windows did not shut down properly and suggested the usual list of start up options (safe boot, etc.). However, I was unable to select any of them through the keyboard (it may be because I am using a wireless keyboard). So, it just restarted in normal mode, and it looked like it booted up.
    3. After it booted up, it went right back into reboot, and gave me the same start up options.
    4. As I was unable to select any of the options, it just went on to start up normally again, but this time, it did not reboot.
    5. The PC just kept beeping with nothing on the screen, so, I cut off the power from the source, and waited 5 minutes.
    6. The result was the same - it just kept beeping with nothing on the screen.
    7. I tried rebooting from the original Vista disc, but the result was the same....

I would really appreciate any help as I don't know what else to try. Thank you very much in advance.

The beeps are long, and I don't know the BIOS type, but the mobo is Gigabyte S-series MA790x-DS4. I would appreciate any help. Thank you very much.

I forgot - the beeps were long and it kept repeating itself. Thank you.

Continuous beeps are an error message from your motherboard, trying to tell you that something is wrong with the hardware. Do you have a memtest86+ disc laying around?

Well, it might be your RAM but I'm not familiar with your board and I couldn't download the manual for some reason. One way to check the RAM is to run memtest86+, comes as a self-booting image, or remove one stick at a time while trying one or the other, that is if you have more than one stick. Other than that, someone else will have to help.

Thank you. I'll try the memtest86+.

Check your graphics card. These are the beep codes for your MB.
