Help! My Window <a href="xp%20home%20edition" onmouseover="window.status='XP Home Edition'; return true;" onmouseout="window.status=''; return true;">XP Home Edition</a> crashed at home, it won't let me go to the desktop screen, it continues to go into recovery mode.

I wrote down what my computer is saying while trying to use the 7 disks that HP gives you when trying to recover or computer.

    1. The section IDA_END_EXPLORE_CDS does not contain a valid dialong template
    2. Windows could not start because of a computer disk hardware configuration problem.
    3. Could not read from the seclected boot disk check boot path and disk hardware
    4. Please check windows documentation about hardware disk configation and your hardware reference manuals for addtional information
    5. Cannot create user partition systems recovery cannot continue.

Reminder: I am using my work computer to check this board and checking emails. I would greatly appericate any help to lead me in the proper direction to fix this problem.

    Thanks,

If you can get to the recovery console, run chkdsk /r.

No it goes straight to Recovery Mode and when it goes through the steps that I listed it turns off and does the same BS all over again.

    What is Recovery Mode?

That won't be an XP specific startup mode.

Ok when it turns on it goes straight to Systems recovery Mode.

    We established that already...

However, its not part of XP, so I can only assume its part of the HP restore process.

If you have an XP CD, boot to it, go to recovery console and run chkdsk /r/

If you don't, can you borrow one to do this?

The XP boot floppies will get you into rcon, however, if the drive cannot be read, then you can't do chkdsk from them, due to a missing component.

When reading the HP manual it say to do that. When I tried to do it, it won't let me. Than I enter in all 7 discs and it gives me that BS error messages. I tried to do everything that the HP manual says. I'm driving my self crazy with this.

What happens when you try to?

It tells me when I go to the Blue HP screen to press F10. Than it takes me to systems recovery mode. Than it ask if I want to do a full recovery or partial. Both I've tried and than it repets that steps I listed. That's really all it lets me do. When I'm in the blue systems recovery mode screen. It shows other options to chose from but, I can't chose them. It only allows me to go through those steps that I listed. Than it turns off and starts all over again. AHHH!

OK I rebooted it and it won't let me go to recovery console. It asked to do those 7 CD's and at the very end it says that can not create user partition system recovery can not continue. Than it turns off and starts again?

Sounds like you aren't booting to a real XP CD.
