well i'm visiting my aunt for a little while, (my home computer is Windows 98) and hers is windows 2000/NT and basically her computer is not protected and problems have started to arise on her computer. now my problems are that some programs (resulting from spyware and viruses) are on my computer now and i can't delete them so what i need to do is take them off of start up so they wont startup when windows starts up. BUT when i go to start<run<msconfig. an error message comes up saying,
"Cannot find the file 'msconfig' (of one of it's components). Make sure the path and file name are correct and that all required libraries are available."
i do not know why it is doing this and going through Run and typing in msconfig is the only way i i know how to get to the startup menu where i can select which programs i want to start up with wiindows and which ones i do not want to start up. does anyone know what the problem is or how i can resolve this.
And also just recently when i start the computer up, it stops right at my backround and wont load my desktop up. it just stays there with the hour glass as my curor. Now i went to task manager (via CTRL+ALT+Delete) and found out that this one thing called 8pgflr.exe keeps popping up and then dissapearing ect. so what i have to do now just to get my desktop to load up is log off and then log back on as the same name just to get the dektop to load. I try to end the process on task manager for this file but right when i do it shows up again...now i really don't know what to do with any of this. i have ran a virus scan and delete many viruses (although some of the files could not be deleted) but i'm still having problems can anyone help me?

Thank you very much in advance

As far as start up can you not just right click "start" open and remove them there. It's not msconfig but it's a start

Start off fresh by doing this....

First, download and run Spybot S&D 1.3
    Followed by Ad-aware.
    Followed by CW Shredder.
Then you can install "Startup Control Panel" available from www.download.com.
You can choose what to start using Startup Control Panel.

It seems you may have Spyware or Trojans infected in your system. The above programs can help if not clean it up completely.

After all that, run Hijack This! again, there may be far less entries, and then post the log here again.
    :)
