hi guys, this has been a sort of ongoing problem for a while but now its became important
problem = i cannot restart in safe mode
my pc works fine in normal mode apart from the spyware problem i have recently picked up (winner32)
when i try to restart in safe to do a bit of a cleanup my laptop shuts down
ive tried safe, safe with net, safe with c:>
    same problem
a blue screen flashes up briefly before it shuts down but its too quick to see
i had a problem a while back where i ended up losing everything, this safe mode restart problem has been there since then, but until recently ive not had reason to restart in safe
last time i did a factory restore to get rid of my problem, which i think was a graphics driver fault
i dont want to have to do this again, especially when i think i may still have a problem afterwards
so if anyone knows of any issues about restarting in safe it would be much appreciated
    for info purposes
    im running xp home sp3
    mcafee
office 2007 (which also has problems)
other problems ive been having for a long time are
i cannot use media player 11, it just shuts down every time i try to play anything
    i cannot install Microsoft .NET Framework 2.0: x86 (KB829019)
    or
    Microsoft .NET Framework 3.0: x86 (KB928416)
every time i try it just says update failed
the windows media player problem has been mentioned before on here but nobody could help
same deal with the net framework thing
i dunno if its all connected as they all seem to be similar symptoms
    office shuts down,
    mp11 shuts down
    recently ie7 shuts down
mcafee started to shut down but ive reinstalled
when starting in safe mode, whole pc shuts down
    what can i do?????????????????????????????
    thanx in davance

Some boot sector viruses have been known to survive an OS reinstall. If you can run online scanners try Kaspersky and ESET NOD32. Then visit Majorgeeks Malware Removal Forum after going through these guidelines.

If your PC will not let you do any of this you should open a thread in the malware forum anyway.

    hi guys thanx for advice
the sypware aint really a big problem, or it wouldnt be if i could get to safe mode
ill try them online scanners, but even if i can get rid of the spyware, im still stuck for getting into safe mode
which is the reason for this post,
ive been onto the read and run me bit first before coming here but got stuck when trying to restart in safe
