Help, Nero 7 will not uninstall from vista

HI

This question has likely come up before but here goes.

I tried to install my copy of Nero 7 ultra on a new computer with vista, after several tries I gave up and bought Nero 8 ultra.
When I tied to install nero8 ultra, it said that i needed to uninstall nero 7 ultra however when I try to uninstall nero 7 ultra, it gets part way then either vista crash dumps with the measage that "windows installer has stopped working"
or
I get the message
custom action DLL crashed on last call in fuction
NEROAg_unregistercomEX.
The installer must now exit

Does anybody know how I can get rid of Nero 7 so I can load Nero 8

I tried both links and with the Nero general cleaning tool in both tries the programs stared to do it's job but then a window popped up with

Microsoft(C) register server has stopped working

When I click either of the options, close or to check for online solutions, windows crash dumped.

Nero 7 files are still there and not uninstalled.

Try, right clicking on the clean tool, then select "Run as administrator".

 

or try:

click start, type in (within start search )
cmd press CTRL + SHIFT + ENTER
Click continue.
Migrate to the program in question.

I.E.

cd\users\ [your username] \desktop (press enter). Note, ignore the brackets [ ] and spaces --> <---

type in the executable name: General-CleanTool.exe

 

I tried the run as administrator and it still crashed.

With black screen try, it did not recognize desktop as a command nor did it want general-clean tool.exe

Something is still stopping me from uninstalling or removing nero 7

I wonder if restoring the factory setting would help?

 

Do you have k-lite codec pack installed? If so, try uninstalling that, then removing nero7.

 

No I don't have that on.

Is this an unusual problem?

Is there a way to at least stop it from crashing every time I try.

Is Vista worth keeping, because I've had a number of problems to solve and they just seem to get harder and stranger as I go?

 

A couple of things to try.
Uninstall in safe mode.

Delete the nero directory within c:\program files\

IN THE END THIS IS HOW I GOT RID OF NERO 7

I downloaded and unzipped 3 copies of the general-clean tool.

In safe mode, I deleted all the nero files that I could.

Still in safe mode, I opened the clean tool and of course Vista froze it.

I opened a second clean tool and away it went but it didn't seem to finish.

Still in safe mode, I opened the third clean tool and it found and it removed all setting affected by nero and it closed telling me that all of nero 7 was removed.

I reboted and it windows explorer I deleted the now empty nero file.

Run the software. All programs intalled will be ticked. Right click on the Nero Pain in the butt and click uninstall.
You WILL get error messagers from windows, like me, some saying fatal (to do with the uninstall) keep clicking on them till gone, DON"T STOP running the program, just let it do it's magic. Your Nero will be removed.

Then if like me you had Nero 7, just download version 7.10.1.2 update from the Nero Site, that is compatible with Vista. Register with your Nero 7 number you have, it will ask about overide (registration Number) or something like that, :confused just say yes. all is good. hope this solves your problem too as no other suggestions solved it for me, not even the nero clean tools.

I've loaded nero 8 now with no problems and it seems to be working fine.
