Help networking 3 XP PCs with a hub

I am trying to network 3 computers hard wired to a hub. They are all running XP. I am fairly computer savvy, but have never tried networking before and have no Idea what I am doing. Tried the network wizard with no luck. Got the tip from here about the "Onecomputerguy" webpage and tried the tips there. Tried setting up a VPN, nothing has worked so far. All three computers can connect to the internet, so I know the hub and wiring are OK.

Any help would be greatly apreciated.

If you have Cable/DSL and three computers are connected to a Hub and can share the Internet.

Then you probably have few external IPS from your ISP.

External IPs are Not private so simple LAN will not work.

You should get a Cable/DSL Router.

If you are using Dialup connection then you probably did not set the Network correctly.

We are all using a cable modem (Roadrunner) to connect to the internet.

 

Like CAT5E noted below. Get a router. Look around and you can get one for $20 with rebates. Stick with Netgear/Linksys. Amazon, NewEgg.com ....
