Help: new hard drive

hi. i got got a new maxtor ultra diamondmax 9 120gb hard drive and i'm having a little trouble installing it. i want it as my master drive so i configured the jumper right (i hope) and put my old hd that came with my computer as slave drive. i started up my computer and all my files are still here and all but it doesn't detect my new hard drive. i tried following instructions and run setup at startup but it's not working. any help would be appreciated.

 

if you've set the new one as master and you're booting from the slave i don't think it will recognise it, will it? also, which connector is it on, on the ide cable? I'd try installing windows onto the new hd and then copy files over onto it. The use your existing drive as a slave.
However, if you disconnect the current slave (your old drive) is the new one detected at all???
If it makes any clicking or beeping sounds then theres something not right with it at all.

i figured it out. i just kept reading the instructions and found that my computer was already set to auto detect it. i ran the software that came with it and everything worked out ok. thanks
