HELP none of my USB drives are working :(

well first of all merry christmas. but i do have a slight problem. none of my usb drives are working, not even the ones on the MOBO. they wont work for the mouse, a pen drive, or ipod. i dont know what to do. i have uninstalled all of them then serched for new hardware and let windows install them. i also restored a registry backup from a couple of weeks ago. i think they were working then, but im out of ideas what do i do?

 

Might it be that there is a plug or connection inside the computer that has come adrift??. Pending advice from better experts than me that is where I would look first

no its not that because none of them are working even the ones that are soderd to the motherboard. i pretty sure its sofware related, but its about hareware so i wasnt sure wich form ot put it in so i put it in both
