HELP..not a virus

Ok, I posted yesterday about the problems I was having with my HP Pavillion w/AMD Athlon XP 2000
1.66Ghz
480 of RAM

which is running XP home. I made a boot disk from another pc using McAfee, ran a scan, came back clean. I then ran the online scan on housecall which found JS. Noclose under my son's settings. 3hrs into the scan, it was almost finished, the system froze again and I gave up for the night.

I'm at a lost as to what to try next. Suggestions please.

how big is your Drive and how much "stuff" is on it?

I have an 80 gig drive that I scan regularly. 28Gigs are used and it doesn't take NEARLY that much time to scan..

 

My HD is 80gig, sorry for omitting that info. I think it's about a third full. It was taking a long time scanned thru the temp internet files, which doesn't really make sense since I deleted them on Monday. Although I may have only deleted mine, since my children have their own user names.
