ok, i have a dual channel board and i'm running 2X512 pc3200 coarsair sticks of ram with cas latency of 2.5.....a friend is giving me 2x512 pc3200 coarsair sticks....BUT!!! they have cas latency of 2.

can i run 4 sticks of 512MB the same ram but one pair have 2.5 cas latency and the other pair have 2 cas latency???

is there a way to make them the same?? and is there certain slots i should put them in? i have 4 slots, and 1 stick in channel A, and the other stick in channel B. I read the overclocking guide but that didnt help me very much!

    plz help

    Thanx

Some MOBO's have issues when all 4 mem slots are used.
    Free memory? Take it!

Your already running in Dual channel? just stick the new mem in the other avaible slots.
The memory might work, might not.

Could be as simple as just installing in the avaible slots (when running memory of different speeds, you must run at the slowest of the speeds, most mobo's will default at the slower of the two)
You might have to manually set your memory speeds, if so you will set them at the slowest of the memory used, which in your case is the CL2.5 mem.
Some memory chips require different voltages to run correctly.

Post your brand & model MOBO, also post Info on your memory chips.

thanx man, yeah i figured it would or wouldnt work, and that i might have to manualy set them, but just wanted to make sure...

    here is some usefull stuff...

my bios under voltage/frequency settings says this...

    Memory frequency for......

    [auto]
    [ 2.0 ]
    [ 2.5 ]

    its on auto right now.

    I also have....

Memory Frequency (Mhz)......[ 333 ]....(which i guess is defualt)....

if the ram doesnt work i can switch it to [ 2.5 ] in frequency settings and give that a try right?
