My IE6 works fine, except for the help menu. I get contents and index items fine, but if i click on any of them i get "page cannot displayed". All my connectivity is fine. I get all url's i type in address bar not a problem. I have tried shutting down zone alarm, norton, popup blocker...nothing works...

    Help !

when you're using "Contents and Index" section of Help in IE6, you're not using internet connection. It searches the local database of windows that comes with OS. This means your IE settings are either changed, corrupted or help file is missing.
First, you might want to reinstall your IE or upgrade to version 7.
    Good luck.

    Thanks.
I tried upgrading to IE7...it didnt help,so i backed that off.

How do I re-install IE6? I tried putting on SP1..it says already on.
    I tried adding/remove programs...IE6 doesn't show up there.

This is an HP Laptop ..preconfigured with Windows.

if upgrade didn't work, this might be useless... but, in order to uninstall IE6, go to add/remove programs and select "windows components" on the left side. Uncheck the box "internet explorer" and proceed.
Also, before you do this, you need to download the ie6 installation file from microsoft, so that you can reinstall IE. Make sure you do this step first! or you'll have some problems.

Didn't work. After unchecking box it only takes about 15 secs and doesn't do much other than delete my IE Icon from my desktop. Doesn't seem to actually uninstall anything. however, after i unchecked i rei-installed IE7 from MS website and still have the same problem with help - "Internet Explorer cannot display the website"
I had to recheck the box to get the ICON back....guess I'll leave IE7 up for now...but soooooo frustrating! I have other programs that use IE Help interface and they don't work because of this.
    thanks anyway!
