I recently installed Mozilla Thunderbird and it tells me to type my POP and SMTP server. I don't know what it is. Can anyone help? I'm using SBC Yahoo DSL mail. Thanks!

POP and SMTP are the details that have to be typed in to get and send your mail.

Search the particular section of Yahoo that applies to you for information on how to set up your email account and you should find the details you need. POP is for incoming mail and SMTP is for outgoing mail.

I'm not familiar with what you mentioned (SBC Yahoo DSL) but if the email account is with the same people that are supplying your internet connection, the POP and SMTP lines are probably the same (but not necessarily). If, however, you don't connect to the internet through Yahoo, you may find you need to use the details for SMTP that your internet service provider has on their site.

    Here is a simple example:

You connect to the internet through "We The Best" internet company and you have a Google mail account. The details might be:
    POP: mail.google.com
    SMTP: mail.ca.wethebest.com

The key is to remember that the POP must be the people you have your email account with and the SMTP must be the company you have your internet service from.

    Hope that helps!

You could also call your DSL tech support. They can tell you the settings to type in.
