Brought a brand new case (came with power supply and hook ups), new motherboard, and processor. Installed motherboard to case, processor came preinstalled. Hook up case to power, then pressed power button... nothing. Rechecked the 20 pin and 4 pin power connectors from power supply... they were perfect. Checked the jumper from the power display on case to motherboard, followed the manual, and nothing happened. If i didn't follow the manual, i would get my Power Led to come on... but no power. By me saying no power, i mean the Power Supply fan has yet to come on. Any helpful hints?

The motherboard was a PC Chips M871G 760GX/964, supports 754 CPU Socket, with AMD Athlon XP 2800+.

Here is the diagram from the manual for my jumpers(connectors and headers) (this is what I believe the problem 2 be).

    HD_LED_P(+)**FP PWR/SLP(+)
    HD_LED_N(-)**FP PWR/SLP(-)
    RESET_SW_N(-)**POWER_SW_P(+)
    RESET_SW_P(+)**POWER_SW_N(-)
    RSVD_DNU*{no pin}Key

    *Means pins on m\b.

Here are the connectors I have for my case.

    (Two Pin) Reset Switch
    (Two Pin) Motherboard Switch
    (Two Pin) H.D.D. LED
    (Single Pin)Power LED +
    (Single Pin)(-)

I am completely stuck, and all of my close resources have been shot down by every attempt.

First off check and see if theres a switch on the back of the power supply, maybe an o and a i, o is off i is on. If not that, pull the plugs off your pins and cross them with a small screw driver until the board powers up, remember which two turns the board on so the power switch will work, with the pc running you can switch the power led around the other pins till it works and the same for the hd led. When i talk about a switch on the rear of the power suppy i dont mean the 115-220 [red] slide switch, it should be on 115. ed

Yea, my friend said to use a key, but i'd be more comfortable with ur idea. But the back of the power supply, i tried it with both the O and I, I knew the O was on, but on my other comp... it was reversed, so i always try both anymore  But I will try the screwdriver idea and see what happens, ty.

just checked the manual from online. it looks like pin #6&8 should be your power switch. but it sounds like you did so already.
After checking the main power switch on the back of the power supply (like tunered says), try resetting your bios by using clear cmos jumper.
And I is "on" for most of the power supply. (I thought this was universal)

I know you said you tried the PSU switch both ways but for future reference the O is OFF or open circuit. The straight line represents a complete (or closed) circuit.

I have used this trick before to test the power supply. Disconnect everything from the MOBO first. http://modtown.co.uk/mt/article2.php?id=psumod

Still frusturated and unsolved. I cleared the CMOS jumper... many times. Didn't work. Tried screw driver... didn't work. Besides scrapping this motherboard... if its the motherboard, what should i Do? And wat basically is my problem i am having. I am so confused.

Most bad boards will at least power up the fans, if the clear cmos jumper is on the wrong pins it wont power up, are you sure your power supply is good?. ed

    Champ,
Let's check if your MB and PSU is working or not.
If you have any extra motherboard (new or old) that's working hook up your new PSU to it and test it.
And since you're posting threads, i'm assuming you have a working PC.
Take out the PSU from the working computer, and test the New Motherboard. You don't need to hook up everything at once. just hook up 20pin and 4 pin power connection to the motherboard and see if it turns on at all (hear the fans go on/ see the green light go on..)
If you have any bad parts, you need to call your vendor and get a RMA and get a replacement parts. Since you just bought these parts, i'm sure you have warranties.

Just thought of something else that might be a problem, there could be the possibility that your old ram is not compatibale with your new board.
