    hello guys...
my laptop has an on-board built in 256-MB RAM chip...after the computer crashed, the RAM went down to 119...i don't know what the hell happened...
but that was annoying and now its as slow as hell.....

is there a way or a tool on how i can recover it...? some idiot told me a trojan did that...but hey, i think am not that stupid to believe that...
    it ain't no hard disk....

    trust you guys....

    Hi VBrave,

Looks like you burnt some chips on your RAM stick, no way to fix it though :( - try reseating it or put it into the second RAM slot if you have one.

Otherwise pay a visit to crucial.com?

    Good luck.

PS, I see it's onboard - like soldered in?

    yeah...its soldered in. . .
    but here lies the trick....
wen i install Mandriva Linux, it shows me 256MB RAM but just restoring it to Manufactures OS ( XP SP2 ) thats when am geting 119...

by the way, am no expert with Linux, if you could help me with some books or basic commands of Linux, and programming (am Vb.nettor), maybe i might turn my back on Windows, that is an expert in it....

    thanks for the tip....

Being soldered in is a real PITA, as you would appreciate. :(
Maybe you would be better off to install more RAM in a spare slot, if you have one, and write the Windows RAM discrepancy off to bad luck. You will probably be stuck with speed of the on-board RAM being slower than whatever new RAM you install extra, though. :cry

    Hello,
Do you have on-board video or a separate video card in your computer?
