The virus "W32.DesktopHijack" has infected the file WININET.DLL. I have tried fixing the problem with Norton Antivirus, but it has not worked. I have read some of the previous threads, and I have installed HijackThis. I obtained a HijackThis log, and I need help on what items to remove to solve the problem. Could I post the log?

    Thanks,

Note: I did follow the steps about disabling system restore & ending processes.

Have you run all steps in the READ ME FIRST sticky thread???

Download smitRem.exe and save the file to your desktop.

Double click on the file to extract it to it's own folder on the desktop.

    Reboot into safe mode.

Open the smitRem folder, then double click the RunThis.bat file to start the tool. Follow the prompts on screen. Wait for the tool to complete and disk cleanup to finish.

The tool will create a log named smitfiles.txt in the root of your drive, eg; Local Disk C: or partition where your operating system is installed. Please attach this log to your next reply.
