Unplug your computer (i mean unplug the PSU) Take the CMOS battery out of your comp, wait 1 hr, replace battery and replace plug.

"wait 1 hr"? As soon as you unplug it, the CMOS is reset. But, it's a good idea to leave it out for about 30 seconds just to be sure... You don't need to unplug it for an hour.

If this doesn't fix it, you may have some faulty hardware.

I do it just in case...

All you need to do is reset the CMOS. Then it goes back to stock settings and you have to change it again.

Agree, typically, the reset jumper (J11 I think) will reset this. Though, if you one can't find this jumper, I typically remove the battery (oh so carefully) for about 5 mins. Replace the battery and turn on the computer.

Is this new Build? or did your PC just suddenly not boot?
Yep, as a few have already posted Reset your CMOS.
In your Asus manual are instructions for reset mobo/CMOS if you dont have a manual you can download one for free at manufactures web:
    http://support.asus.com/download/download.aspx?SLanguage=en-us
If it's new build you might also check your CPU jumper:
    http://usa.asus.com/products/mb/socketa/a7n8x/jumper.htm

Last thing once your MOBO/CMOS has been reset, this returns your MOBO's BIOS to default settings, your default setting's are not generally the best.
I have an Asus A7N8X Deluxe 2.0 at default setting my cpu is underclocked so what I getting at is you need to check all your settings, as for relation to your problem pay attention to "Advanced Chipset Features"
    Here's BIOS Guide:

i got it working but thanx for helping, i wish i would've got a chance to see what you guys wrote so i could've did that instead but my mother didnt want me to use hers so i took a wild guess what to do, i reseted something to default, i know this is bad but i cant remember what it is, it was at that cyan colored screen, you know like when you are changing start up drives, that area, is there anything i can do to prevent this from happening again

its about 1-2 yrs old, it was built summer of 2003,
i was on the computer then the monitor just went away as if it was on standby because instead of the light being green, it was yellow(its yellow when i shut down the computer and the monitor is left on), so i clicked the power switch in the back , then clicked it back then i heard the magic words, then it stayed at this one screen where it says the motherboard name

Cycling the power sometimes works. But if you do it too quickly, funny things happen. Best to leave the power off for at least 30 sec. before you bring the power back on again.

Could your problem have been caused by cycling the power too quickly? If so, now you know how you can avoid it happening again.

"Cycling the power" = turning the power off, then on again.
