I have a packard bell PC that up until recently has been working fine. Now when I turn it on it says loading settings and then suddenly the computer turns itself off. I am in no way a computer geek so I would like some help.

I actually wanted to give the PC to my dad and had planned to delete all of the files on the computer so any ideas that envolve lossing information is no problem.

I seems to me like the computer has some sort of virus - any solutions anybody?

It could be bad RAM. It could be a failing power supply. It could be heat either because a fan has stopped working or the paste between the CPU and the heat sink/fan has dried up so it can't cool the CPU properly.
