I am going to buy a laptop off ebay and was wondering would i be able to upgrade it if i wanted to, the main parts i would want to upgrade would be the Graphics card, processor & Hdd, is it possible to upgrade laptops or does it have to be specific parts made for that model?

Any Help Kindly Apreciated, Mike ;)

Typically you need to think of a laptop as a very small computer, hence most parts are built onto the motherboard like the graphics and sound card, so upgrades are unlikely in that area. Other items can usually be upgraded like the memory and hard drive. I never considered a processor upgrade, maybe someone else can answer that. I prefer to take my laptop to an authorized repair shop because you will find some proprietary parts. In other words, theres no single, easy answer here for most of it :)

Hard drives and memory are easily upgradeable. Only on extremely high-end laptops is video upgradeable. Thats about it.

HDs are not proprietary. In other words, a 2.5" HD is a 2.5" HD. They just look different because the drive chassis uses a proprietary connection. Some are pins, some look like SEC's, etc.
