You can't delete IE don't try it or your pc will not work.

Did your internet work with IE before your new network card?

It stopped working shortly before I got a new card. Before I got your message, I did delete IE7, I was still able to get on thru Firefox. I'm going to reinstall IE 7 and see what happens.

try making sure your firewall is not blocking ie 7 as silly as it sounds it may be happening...for just a quick check disable your firewall(s) then wait about 10-15 secs then try opening ie 7. if thats the problem you can edit your firewall exceptions through the program itself. if your going through a router make sure the ports are open or forwarded to allow ie7 to connect usually this is port 80.

Internet Explorer is intimately bound up with Windows itself. When you install a new version of it you make fundamental changes to Windows.
Equally if you 'delete' it you may remove a folder from the C drive but all that does is leave lots of broken references and parts are still left over e.g. in the registry. So you have actually partly broken Windows.

What do you mean by delete?

What sort of recovery have you got?

    Microsoft Windows Cd
    Manufacturers recovery Disk?
Manufacturers recovery loaded onto your hard drive?

I went to add/Delete programs and deleted it from there. got on the net thru Firefox and downloaded IE7 again. As far as recovery, none. I got this computer used with no disks from a family friend and I've asked for a disk and first they dont see why I need one and 2nd, they work at their own speed and everything else comes first (they are remodeling their house) if I give them the computer it could take weeks to get it back, if not months.

cat5e, Thanks for the help. I was having a similar problem as this thread with slow internet. Searched and found this thrread and your link, then on that page there was a link to "How to Reset Internet Protocol (TCP/IP) in Windows XP". Great solution from Microsoft. Even a small program to run that fixed it for me. That did the trick. Now my speed is fast again. Better than it's been in a long time.
