Help Please laptop crash!

Hi everyone,
I am new on this forums, please help!
my laptop crash. It got win 2000 OS but some how I can not boot it up any more. I will post the exact quote on the system later when I get home.
I would like to format the C: drive and install win 2000 again.
my lap top only can take cd reader no floppy slot, anyone can point me to the right directions how to get the boot up cd that take me to the DOS mode so I can format C: drive for re-install.

You can format from the Windows 2000 CD when you boot to it. Of course, if you like, give us the complete error and maybe it wont be required.

 

thanks I will post the errors up as soon as I get home. I put the win 2000 cd in before I turn the computer on but still nothing happen. The win start and error come on at the window bars.

 

Here is the message on the laptop when turn on.

Windows 2000 couldn't start because the following file is missing or corrupt:
\WINNT\SYSTEM32\CONFIG\SYSTEMced startup optionfor Windows 2000,
press F8.

when turn on computer I did press F8 as it said but still nothing happen and it's freezing up the computer.

computer message also said you can attempt to repair thes file by starting Windows 2000 setup using the original setup floppy disk or cd'
But I don't have any of the original floppy disk or CD what can I do now?

Thanks you for the link, but I am not computer savage, to understand all the technical points.

What can I do to just boot it up in the DOS mode format C: and do the new install. since the computer is frozen in this stage.
I just want to format the c: and start all over again.
Anyone please advice!

Even I put in win2000 CD it's still not boot from there. I turn it on and it frozen at the message I mention above.

OK if I want to format the C: and clean it all out what can I do?
