help please ominous blue screen

I was proofreading a paper last night (no strange downloading or anything) and my computer screen turned blue and said there was an error and the computer was shutting down to protect itself. The screen gave technical information:
STOP: 0x000000f4 (0x00000003, 0x822AEDAO, 0x822AEF14, 0x805FA160)

When I restart my computer I get a black screen that says 1720 SMART Harddrive detects imminent failure (Failing Attr:05)
HDD Self Test in F10 Setup

but when I try to restart in safemode the computer won't let me and I have to restart normally, and even when I do this my computer runs incredibly slow and eventually (within 24 hours) goes back to that horrible blue screen.

What is this and how do i fix it? Thanks!
