help please whole bunch of problems at once

i dont know what happened but i suddenly have a whole bunch of problems all of a sudden.im not sure how it started it might of been spyware or after uninstalling norton internet security 2004 pro.

1) system restore wont startup every time i try to open it ,even thogh the service is enabled and is monitering my pc.i see it running in the background when i launch it but it wontstartup.

2) windows update wont work,every time i launch windows update in the IE browser it starts to load the page then it stops.and automatic updates doesnt run even thogh i enabled it in control panel.

3)when i goto control panel+ adminstative tools+services it startsup but i dont see any services,i only see a blue square at the top.

4) start menu dont alphbetize by itself anymore.i keep on hving to right click+sort by name every time i install a program or game

thats bout it.i tried everytin.cleanup,registry cleanup,defragment,antivirus scan,spyare scan.etc.please help

This will be tough to diagnose because its not a single problem. I dont think Nortons Internet could cause this and, apparently since no one has responded, no one else does either. I believe you have done all you could ad should, so if you dont have any valuable data, I would reformat. If you do have valuable data, theres no excuse for not having a backup. After a clean setup try Acronis True Image or Ghost and make a mirror image for easy recovery next time. Wish I could help more, but there is such a long history of problems here, I think its your best bet.

Did you uninstall s Norton before you disabled navguard, (or whatever their name for it is these days, eternal sentry or something)
Specifically, if this is the case then I think I might have a workaround/solution for you.

nope.damn now windows media player is getting errors too.

Sounds very like the problems I had. Reformat is the way to go. (Took most of yesterday putting everything back on)

never mind it automatically fixed itself up somehow.weird.its all good now.
