    Hi guys

I'm not even sure if this is they forum I should be asking this in, but this is a great forum and you've helped me before and I really appreciate it.

I am having a problem with my pdf files. When I click on a link to a website in the pdf file, instead of opening the web page in internet explorer, it is opening a box saying its downloading and then tries to open the web page within the pdf document.

I have just installed a new windows xp and reinstalled all my programs including Adobe Pro 7.0 and now I have this problem, I wasn't having it before.

Please please please don't tell me I have to reinstall windows and everything else again or I think I'll just cry, this is driving me crazy.

    Please help

    Your post kinda confuses me.

    Do you want:

    A) Open the pdf within IE (what version of IE 6 sp2/IE 7?)
    B) Open the pdf within acrobat itself?

oh sorry I'll try to make a bit more sense.

I can open the pdf ok, I am opening it with acrobat. It is when I click on a website link (the link is in the pdf document), it is trying to open the webpage within the document instead of going to internet explorer to open the webpage.

So the problem isn't opening the pdf document, the problem is with opening a webpage link from the pdf document.

    Does that make sense now?

What happens when you do this:

Click START, then RUN, then type in:

iexplore (path to the .pdf file).

    example:

    iexplore "c:\documents and settings\%username%\desktop\blah.pdf"

same - it opens the pdf file in acrobat, but still tries to download the webpage in the links into the file

The problem isn't with opening the pdf file, it is with opening website links that are in the pdf file

    Start Internet Explorer

Select the Tools > Internet Options menu

    Select the Programs tab

Look for a checkbox labelled "Internet Explorer should check to see whether it is the default browser" and make sure it is checked. Click OK.

Close Internet Explorer and see if that does it.
