Help Please With Xp In My Audio Computer

Hi folks.
I have a computer that i want to use specifically for AUDIO recording. All the hardwear is spot on and I have a good sound card with 1.4 miliseconds latency.
It was previously running really well when it was custom built for me, but the motherboard died on me and needed to re-install new parts on it including the software.
I want to get rid of all the bits of XP that is going to be slowing the system down and tweek the PC so that it performs at its best, i would like your help please as I do not want to do anything that will hinder it.

I am no longer on p4 I have the latest AMD chip set now.

If you have the latest AMD chip, and a new motherboard, and plenty of RAM (minimum 1gb), and a big, fast hard drive, you don't really need to tweak Windows to get better performance. If your hardware is current and assembled correctly with current drivers, it's not going to operate much better than it does right after you first load the OS and drivers on a newly formatted hard drive, regardless of how much Windows tweaking you do. If anything, you run the chance of messing up the OS by trying to squeeze extra performance out of Windows by turning off services, or disabling this or that. If you're going to tweak anything, maybe an OC on your CPU or RAM, but software tweaks (other than regular maintenance) rarely increase performance enough to be noticeable on a new build with up-to-date hardware.
