DVI or VGA connection? If you're using DVI, try setting the card to Alternate DVI Operational Mode. Open catalyst control center, go to Digital Panel Properties > DVI and tick the Alternate DVI Operational Mode box. Click OK.
If this option is already activated, try disabling it.

    ah its VGA,
and thanks i have tried to reseat it. no dice!
i talked to the guy i bought it off (china-ebay) and he recons lack of power. which i wouldnt have a clue. i know i have a 400W MAX PSU, so i might go buy a more powerful one tomorw. im not sure if its 400W rms or 400w peak. im guessing peak?

i bought a 500w (generic) psu and it seemed to help! for about 5 minutes then the same thing. it happens when i crank up anything that required substantial graphics power.

This may be a stupid question, but what does the rest of your system look like? What else is in there?

Are the lines there all the time from turning the computer on to when a game is run if so I'd say the card is defective,if they only appear under load during a game it could be a power or overheating problem,if its just games which games, post your system specs.

EDIT check the fan is spinning, check the temp of the card in video card properties, post the infromation from the side of your PSU

yeah it doesnt happen from startup. it used to when i first installed it. but it doesnt feel like its overheating or anything... ill post some stuff.

i havnt tried it with a game as of yet, but i have been using 3D mark to test if the problem is still there. and the fan is spinning.

    PSU. usicase 500w silent power.

That power supply is pretty weak for what you have, most of the current will be drawn from the 12v of which it only has 18amps looks like a very cheap 500w power supply,in a perfect world you may want to upgrade it,for testing you could try removing a harddrive and both cdroms that will free up some current on the 12v,

Just to check do you have a molex connected to the video card?

A problem from startup before the card has come under any load certainly does look to me like a defective video card most power supply's can boot into windows without problem, try running a few other 3d benchmarks, loop them, try a game if you can get hold of one, check for the latest updates for the benchmarks

I would really be looking at some kind of refund at this point though if possible:(

hrm. well yeah it doesnt happen from startup. and the start of the benchmark stuff seems fine. So maybe it is my problem, not the video card?

also i was surfing all night last night and was looking at alot of photos, after a few hours it started to happen only lightly though.

so what type of psu should i be looking at? one with more amps on the 12 v rail?

also.... dont hate me for this.

what components should i put on which psu rails? like does the dvd burner need to go on a specific power cable?

Sorry my mistake I read wrong, look for decent quality psu, antec, thermaltek, enermax, ultra, tagan in no perticular order 450 500w with about 25 -30 amps on the 12v rails

I have a coolermaster not the best but its been good to me,well tested

32amps on two 12v rails for $50,it does depend on your budget though

Put your video card on one set of molex's and your drives and everything else on the other.

    I'm not a hater:D

Stick around for a few more reply's :)
