HELP! Please:)

Hi all i'm Tom

Ive been struggling for 3 days now. Ive been trying to get Sound on my Gigabyte "ga8i848p775-g". I have tried !EVERYTHING! under the sun.lol. Lots of different drivers, looked ALL OVER the Internet. i cant find anything that works..

My machine is running Windows XP Service Pack 3. The on board sound card is a Realtek AC97. I JUST CANT GET THE SOUND TO WORK.!!!!

I have tried
Avance Logic AC'97 Sound System Software ver:A2.48 Drivers.
Realtek Semiconductor Corp. AC'97 Sound System Software ver:A3.78.

The Avance Logic AC'07 was from the Gigabyte website. That's supposedly the Right Drivers for the onboard Audio on the ga8i848p775-g.

The only thing i can think of that might help is that in Device manager under Sound Video and game controllers all there is is:

Audio Codecs
Legacy Audio Devices
Legacy Video Capture Devices
Media control Devices
Video Codecs

But wen i go to properties of any of the above^ it says
Location(unknown)

I have know idea why.
Everything is set right in the Bios to.

PLEASE! can anyone help!!!!!!!

What you are going to have to do is look and make sure you uninstall ALL the audio drivers, that you have installed. Start by looking in Add/Programs for them.
This includes your Realtek audio.

Then download and install your chipset driver:
http://america.giga-byte.com/FileList/Driver/motherboard_driver_chipset_intel_inf.exe

Then, install your audio:
http://america.giga-byte.com/FileList/Driver/motherboard_driver_audio_realtek_whql.exe

Do a full shut down and reboot.

 

Hey thanks, BUT. been there done that. i really have tried everything.
it was a Hardware problem not software.
and i got a New Sound Card, so its all good.
