Hey all...Sorry i havnt been on in a while...

I have another question... Rather mindboggling i must say.

I am now running Vista Basic on my new laptop, and a couple days ago, i did a startup repair. After it was complete, I went to listen to some music, and in my music folder... was nothing... i searched my whole HD for something.... Anything... Nothing...

Now to the strange part... The stuff that is gone... Is still taking up space on my Hard Drive... Any help would be appreciated on recovering said files...

I have a 60 gig hard drive... with at least 40gigs of music... leaving me with 10 gigs.... (vista takes 8-9 i think)... please help:cry:cry

    Will try EVERYTHING.

I do not know any free applications that will recover data from HD running Vista, this one says all Windows so it would not hurt to give it a try.

When you do a repair install of Vista, it takes the files of the previous installation and puts everything into a folder called WINDOWS.OLD. If you explore drive C: you should see this folder; in it should be all your files. You may have to enable the viewing of hidden/system files and folders by clicking Organize > Folder Options > View and make the appropriate changes. If you don't have the Windows.Old folder, you can always do a system search and use the name of one of your songs (or .mp3 or whatever the music extension is for your tunes) as the search parameter. Just be sure to enable the searching of hidden/system files and folders.

    I hope this helps!
