I have a Geforce 6200 video card and everything was going good had it for almsot a year. about yesterday my computer just randomly freezes and the screen turns black and then back to normal and keeps on doing that. i restored it thought it was something else but now i dont know what the hell is going on. can somone tell me what is wrong with it or how can i fix it.

Maybe i overclock the computer or the video card fried?:major

Check the connecting cable first of all.

As Studiot said, check all your cables. If you are overclocking, perhaps you went too far! :cool Try resetting the CMOS jumper to set your BIOS back to stock. It should be a jumper near the battery on your motherboard (assuming you have a desktop computer.) I am not sure if you are clocking the video card, if so, set it back to stock.

Also verify that all the cooling fans, CPU, graphics card (if it has one), case fans are spinning when the computer is running. If all that is ok, I would suspect the power supply is going out on you. You might also want to check the temps of your video card: http://www.majorgeeks.com/download5796.html

Have you updated the video drivers recently? Post back more info.

Computers usually restart or shutdown like that when something overheats, or does not get enough power. Always start trouble shooting at the physical layer. Make sure everything is plugged in and everything that should be running is running. I have a computer a while back start to go crazy on me and be unstable. Turns out a cable was preventing the CPU heatsink fan from turning. If you are getting frustrated, take a break and do something else for a while, and look at it a few hours latter or the next day.

did you just recently update the drivers for the 6200? or are you using different nvidia geforce cards? could have conflicting drivers, or one might not be sufficient for the other...and overheating could probably be the cause.

Yep, blown caps usually is RIP for that hardware! Of course on the bright side, video cards have gotten very affordable lately! Look at it as an upgrade.

And if you have had it for less than a year, check with the company, you might be under warranty!

You need whatever video card, or onboard video device you are using's drivers. If you are using onboard video, post the motherboard's model number, if using another GPU, post specs.
