Help, please!

I need to completely wipe my hard drive and re-install the operating system and driver cd`s that came with my system. I have a Dell, and am running Windows XP. If anyone could suggest a free( I am presently un-employed) download which would accomplish what I need, I would be VERY grateful. Thanks for any and all help, have a blessed day, kevin.:confused

 

Couldn't tell by your post, but if you don't have all the drivers, you can go to Dell's website and enter your service tag number. Sans the operating system and supplemental programs, you can download all the software from there.

Those Dells that didn't come with a specially-marked Dell OEM disk came with a recovery partition. I've never had to use that partition, but if its like Compaq/HP used to be, then you had to configure that partition before you could recover using it. In other words, it wasn't a factory image as I would have expected it to be.

 

If it's less than 4-5 years old you can TRY to do the "Dell Self install". At startup try hitting the F10 or F11 buttons and MAYBE??? the hidden partition with reinstll XP to "out of the box" new. Thats if you NEVER had XP reinstalled since you bought it. It will erase EVERYTHING just so ypu know. So copy everything to a DVD-CD that you want to keep. OR...you can go here http://support.dell.com/support/topics/global.aspx/support/dellcare/en/backupcd_form?c=us&cs=19&l=en&s=dhs&redirect=1 and fill it out and get all the disk for your computer from Dell. The OS, drivers, programs that came with you comp. Even if your the 10000 owner of the computer...as long as no one else has done it more than 3 times.
