I bought a new bare boned bundle about 2 weeks ago, it's been running fine as you'd expect for new PC.

Was gaming last night and the cursor just stopped and wouldn't move, i thought it was a loose connection so i took it out and put it back in, still wouldn't move.

The mouse is an optical mouse, so i look underneath it to see if it's receiving power and the red laser was off, so i rebooted and it stayed off. Rebooted again and the lazer came on but it dim, wasn't as bright as it should be. Then i took the mouse from my office PC which is a ball mouse not lazer and it wouldn't work.

So i turn it off by the mains, wake up this morning turn it on and to my suprise it was working. But then my internet wasn't working so i took out the wireless usb adapter from the back and put it back in and the mouse stopped working again.

Anybody any idea what's causing this? Should i take the PC back to novatech?

P.S i'm using my office pc to write this.

Possibly the Power supply, since it worked cold that would be my first attempt at fixing, if under warranty, yes take it back. ed

I think it's just a fussy mouse, sometimes these things just happen, i wouldn't go replacing PSU's or anything like that, just try another mouse and i bet everything is fine.

Just checking that you have all drivers up-to-date yes?

apologies, didn't see the ball mouse!

But please make sure all drivers are up to date first, no point throwing cash about yet.

"tunered" has the best answer "warranty" two weeks old they should just give you a replacement.

Thank you guys for the replies, sorry i haven't been able to reply sooner, been in surgery.

Strangley enough it's working now, the mouse is a Ps2 mouse.

It also has a usb connecter which i have to put into another green device that then goes into the green slot on the tower. The way i got it to work was thinking the green connecter that connects usb mouse to the green slot was faulty, i found a usb wire laying about in one of my boxes of PC bits and bobs, i put the green connector into it and pluged it into my tower and now it's working fine.

    Device manager just says

    Mice and other pointing device
    Microsoft PS2 Mouse.

Not explanation marks or nothing, all seems fine now.

    Thanks for you replys.
