help please

    I am wanting to see if I can speed up my internet I have a adsl speedstream 5100 modem and a Netgear WPN 824 RangeMax Wireless Router. I have AT&T High Speed Internet Elite Downstream Speed: 6.0 Mbps Upstream Speed: 768 Kbps

    I did a speed test at speedtest.net
    4.73Mb/s download
    061Mb/s upload
    25ms ping
    server Dallas Tx < 50 miles

    Your internet speed is set by your ISP. You can't "speed it up".

    If you are not getting the speed that you think you should be getting, you need to contact your ISP.

    Well first of all try updating your firmware on your router. half the people that own a router never update the firmware on the router. then do a speed test with the router and without. try that.. my speed is 35 down 6 up but i have cable looks like you have dsl speeds ... Find out what you pay for down and up.

    I have tried and i go to netgear website and download the new version but i cant open it or install it is says invalid file name and if i go into the routers settings and try that way it says no new firmware

    ok?/ so did you do an update on your router? if the update did not work you have to unzip it first if.. some update firmware is not Executable .. and did you call your isp to see what speed there are giving you
