help....please

i am trying to install java on my pc cuz i did not know that java no longer came with desktops..... been away from pc for awhile.. ..So the problem is i go to sun website and download the software and I get a message saying (java (TM) fils to apply cahnge to your system) do i need to download something else first or what............ thanx

 

That error message makes no sense. Can you translate that for us ?

 

it goes though the installtion wixard and when it tries to install is when i get the msg. the wizard says it could not install error 7722

 

what operating system please?

 

i have an emachines desktop ....version 5.1.2600 servicepack: 1.0 location: C:\windows
