I removed a program on my computer and now I am not showing my CD rom drive, in control panel there is a question mark by it. I am running Win XP Home, and would like to know if I do a repair will that fix it? If so, what do I type in to do the repair? Thanks for any help you can give.

delete the CDROM drive from device manager and re-boot as then XP should re-aquire the drive and load its driver.

BTW what app did you uninstall to do this?

Nope, says the drivers are probaly corrupt???

Windows cannot load the device driver for this hardware. The driver may be corrupted or missing. (Code 39)
    Any ideas?

should have mentioned try it from safe mode, in device manager right click it and uninstall ( why I thought delete I'll never know ) then reboot.

while your re-booting enter the bios have a look to see if it shows in your bios?

Thanks for all your help Halo. ended up just going ahead with a format and that fixed it. I am on a run today anyways, this is hubbys puter, mine got fried last night during a storm. I run a satelite internet and I forgot about disconnecting my modem, and got a major surge, that took out my video card and looks like the mother board. Processors and memory appear ok, along with the hard drive, so guess I faired ok on that. Just really hasn't been my day, if ya know what I mean. lol I am fairly puter literate, but today was not my best. :p I appreate all your help though, and thank you very much for it.
