Help please!!

It seems that when I start up my computer, it makes an alarmish sound. Wee-woo, wee woo. This only happened after I attempted to install new ram, which was faulty. It seems as though the sound is coming from the motherboard. Should I be worried, if so, how can I solve this problem?

3ghz intel pentium 4 ht
512 ram
windows xp pro

 

do you have such sound now? or it was only once after you installed the new ram?

 

it's usually beeps...telling you that something is wrong..

 

Lets try to clarify when this is happening.

Is it only after you installed the new RAM is what is your current and what is the new?

Have you gone into BIOS yet and had a look?
What maybe happening is some BIOS will have a "case opened" alarm which you may need to reset. Have a look at your motherboard manual within the BIOS section (download if you don't have a copy) and find this setting.

Where is the sound coming from? You can put a kitchen funnel to your ear to help isolate it (I suspect the front of your system).

This is interesting..I woke up this morning and turned on my computer to see if the alarm would sound, but it didn't. I think that means the problem was solved?
